It seems that only 8 Members of the Scottish Parliament did not attend Queen Elizabeth's address to the Scottish Parliament on 9th October 2004.
It's a shame that the royalist pageantry of the Holyrood opening ceremony tempted some of the 19 MSPs who did not attend the Queen on the 3rd June 2003 to betray their republican principles in 2004 (if they had any) as they met with the Queen at the Holyrood parliament that day.
The 9th October 2004 was though an improvement compared to 2003 in that the republican light was shining brightly on Calton Hill at the Rally and Declaration for an Independent Scottish Republic. (Click for Scottish Republican News 2004).
Scottish republicans and indeed all Scots should be pleased to honour the following Members of the Scottish Parliament.
Honourable mention - 1st Class (the 8 MSPs whose photographs are below): Scottish republican MSPs who did not welcome, in person, Queen Elizabeth's role in the Scottish Parliament, on 9th October 2004. Honourable mention with distinction is indicated by a red background and links citing an act of republican distinction.
Honourable mention - 2nd Class (none known about as yet): Non-republicans with another reason for not attending the Queen on 9th October 2004.
"& 2003 1st" under a photograph indicates an honourable mention (1st class) of the MSP in the Scottish Republican Roll of Honour 2003.
