SCOTTISH NATIONAL STANDARD BEARER: Peter Dow

War on Terrorism

Houston ... we have a problem

Glasgow Airport
Saturday, 30th June 2007

Complacent, unprepared
Doctors Evil prescribe slaughter. NHS medics botch terror attack.

The Scottish establishment was wallowing in a craven surrender to Queen Elizabeth as the head of the UK royalist, fascist police state at the opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament on 30th June 2007.

In trusting the officers of the UK state from the Queen on down, the government of Scotland then and today still is an exemplar in complacency and being ill-prepared to fight and to win the war on terror.

It could have been so different. The re-establishing of the Scottish Parliament was such a promising advance for Scottish democracy which could so easily have been used to push for a Scottish republic.

But no; most Scots have not protested at all as royalists have perverted the Scottish democratisation process into what they much prefer - a token Scottish Parliament acting merely like a kind of a "Scottish regional council" under the full control of the UK state.

So the Scots were sitting ducks looking to protection from a UK state headed by a more useless head of state it is hard to imagine - Queen Elizabeth.

Houston problem

Scottish Executive First Minister Alex Salmond's reassurances are worthless - as is his recipe for minimal political change "End the Union, except keep the union with the Queen!".

"Wee Eck" and "Auld Liz" as a terror-fighting leadership team are as useless against Al Qaeda as the Krankies, only not meant to be funny.

We were lucky this time because the terrorist attack was botched. We may not be so lucky next time.

It is time to end the phoney war and get ourselves in shape to fight this war on terror to win. That means moving swiftly to a Scottish republic.

All those Members of the Scottish Parliament who disgraced the Scots by welcoming Queen Elizabeth to Holyrood on Saturday 30th June could start the ball rolling by resigning their seats and let's have another Scottish general election - and let's elect intelligent republicans this time who can do better than the usual royalist bureaucracy we always seem to end up with.

One thing a competent Scottish president could do is push for similar republican change in Britain - try to get a British president who again would be in a better position to organise appropriate joint action against enemy terrorist satellite TV (video) and web-site propaganda which is not being tackled with sufficient urgency and effort by Scottish, British and allied military and security forces due to the fact that, as per usual, our generals are still fighting the current war with the tactics and strategies appropriate only for the last war.

Instead of putting enemy leaders on TV and organising conferences for them to spread their terrorist propaganda obviously we need to put them on trial.

So for me it is quite obvious how to win the war on terror but I expect nothing but more complacency and confusion from the typically incompetent royalists Alex Salmond and Gordon Brown and their chosen cabinet colleagues and the UK state officers who are running things.

The FIRST UK convictions for inciting Jihadi terrorism on the internet in July 2007. That's two years after the 52 people killed in the London bombings and nearly 6 years after the thousands killed in the US 9/11 terrorist attacks. So, the UK is not taking prompt action to save lives. Like its ocean liner Titanic (sunk 1912), the UK is a disaster waiting to happen. So why was Queen Elizabeth invited to the White House recently?

LONDON BOMBINGS

I condemn utterly the mass-murder of the innocent people of London on 7th July 2005.

A great many Scots have lived in, worked in and visited London, and it is a city that we love. An attack on the city of London is an attack on the Scots as much as it is an attack on the English or the British.

I agree with the expressions of condemnation and resolve, as far as they go, made from Gleneagles, Scotland by Prime Minister Tony Blair and President George W. Bush. The Scots would not waver anyway in our concerted war on terrorism.

However, in the spirit of offering helpful advice to and about the G8 leaders, there are certain questions that must now be asked -

  • How wise was it for G8 leaders to dine with Queen Elizabeth, the most dangerous terrorist in the world, (she heads up the most powerful global terrorist organisation, "the Windsor Realm"), the night before the bombing?

  • How does dining with the terrorist Queen help to recruit freedom fighters and democrats from other countries to the mutual self-defence of all countries, nations and the people?
  • Attention Americans! Who are your true friends? Not the Windsors!

  • How wise was it for the UK royalist, fascist, police state to mount such a large policing operation in Scotland to counter a hand-full of anarchist-vandals in Scotland and to terrorise peaceful protestors here?

  • Was it wise for the police, for example to re-deploy 1500 metropolitan police officers, including anti-terrorist specialists, no doubt, from London to Scotland? Is the safety of G8 leaders so much more important than the safety of all Londoners?

I'll answer my own questions. The G8 leaders haven't been in the least wise. They would have been better by far, telling Queen Elizabeth that she had 48 hours to leave Scotland forever and then receiving a delegation from G8 Alternatives and other protestors for enlightening discussions on the way forward for the war on terrorism and the way to make poverty history.

Such a democratic approach would in the long run defeat terrorism, although it is impossible to say whether or not that last minute change of heart would have come in time to prevent the London bombings.

There is no way that responsible people should leave the course of the war on terrorism to G8 leaders. They might mean well but they haven't followed the right advice and they show no sign of ever doing so.

    MADRID BOMBINGS

I condemn utterly the mass-murder of the innocent people of Madrid and Spain on 11th March 2004.

At this time, I, as do the people of Scotland, have strong feelings of solidarity with the people of Madrid and Spain.

In particular, I express my condolences to the family and friends of the murdered and my sympathy to the injured victims of this outrage.

I consider this attack on the people of Madrid also to be an attack on the people of every city of Scotland too. The people of, for example, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee love life and freedom as do the people of Madrid.

As the terrorists hate and murder the people of Madrid for loving as they do, the terrorists must hate and want to kill us Scots too.

The courage of the people of Spain is well known. It is a courage that today puts Spain at the front of the battle against international terrorism. The courage of the Spaniards is nothing new but is lasting.

History recalls the immense courage of the Spanish people in their heroic stand against the terrorist fascist Franco in their civil war and the long years of oppression following that.
From Scotland and from around the world, our best volunteer fighters rallied to the Spanish republican cause in the International Brigades.
Although 1936 was a temporary but serious military defeat for freedom, nevertheless, the courageous stand of the people of Spain was a political victory that inspired the freedom-loving people of the world to defy and then to defeat Hitler.

In a way, we owe the freedoms that we so often take for granted to the proud example set by the people of Spain in 1936.

In 2004, it is we Scots and others who are privileged to stand in solidarity with the people of Spain at this difficult time.
Despite whatever the terrorists' evil deeds are intended to achieve, the terrorists have simply strengthened and renewed the bonds of love between the people of Spain and the rest of the world.

Recalling the contempt the free Spaniards had for those contemptible pro-Franco terrorists, my defiant shout regarding those contemptible Madrid-bomber terrorists, echoes the Spanish republican slogan of 1936 - “They shall not pass!”

    “NO PASERAN!”

Global-reach terrorists such as Al Qaeda pose a new and growing threat to all of the peoples of the nations of the world.

They have only been able to cause outrages such as the 11th September 2001 attacks on the United States of America because of the failure of the governments of the world to implement effective anti-terrorist measures.

Up until recently, policies, intelligence and command and control have been negligent, counter-productive and stupid in the extreme.

For example, many of the U.S presidencies after World War 2 have often had a nasty habit of covert or open funding and support of highly unreliable and undemocratic persons who later on develop into a threat to American interests. Past and present British governments have been equally self-destructive.

The war on terrorism is by no means won yet as many undemocratic regimes entirely dependent on the use of terror to stay in power still rule in many countries, in the middle east and further afield.

It should be obvious by now that these undemocratic countries are far too dangerous for civilian Scots to visit or to live in whatever payment is offered. My advice is not to trust the U.K. Foreign Office reassurances - the U.K. government is under enormous political pressure and will say anything to defend lucrative U.K. business contracts with the likes of the Saudi government. Don't trust any of them.

The war on terrorism won't be won unless and until the U.S. government finds the determination to complete the democratisation of these other undemocratic countries that is has successfully begun with the removal of the Taliban from Afghanistan and Saddam from Iraq. Until then, Scotland should stand ready.

It is the military's job to deal with dangerous situations and Scots should be proud of the (April to July 2002) contribution of the Scotland-based Royal Marines (45 Commando) who have helped to scare away Al Qaeda from much of Afghanistan, for now anyway.

Scots should be equally proud of their outstanding contribution to the liberation of Iraq.
When the British forces get half-decent political leadership ("lions led by lions") they can achieve great things. In Britain, the marines, air force and navy, in courageous fighting, add status to the anachronistic word "Royal" whereas the Royal family rarely do.
